(Junior) Policy Analyst for Agri-food Policy

Position description

Europe Jacques Delors is looking for a full-time (38 hours/week) (Junior) Policy Analyst (F/M/D), based in Brussels. The position is to be filled as soon as possible, initially for the duration of a year, with the possibility to extend.

Your tasks:

  • Manage a project and deliver the set outputs, focusing both on the external and internal dimensions of agri-food policy in the EU, in close coordination with the Director of Studies;
  • Research and draft policy papers on agri-food issues, such as the bioeconomy, the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, the future of EU agri-food governance and policy, in coordination with the Director of Studies and the Director-General;
  • Organise both working level and high-level events and roundtables, including conceptualisation, invitation of speakers and participants, coordination of logistics, communications activities as well as follow-up;
  • Monitor relevant legislative files; provide timely advice and policy analysis; help maintain sustainability at the top of the EU’s agri-food agenda after the European elections;
  • Support the Director-General of Europe Jacques Delors in their work on agri-food, such as organising, preparing and following up meetings and events, preparing panels and other events, carrying out a range of research tasks and writing briefings;
  • Work closely with the communications team, e.g. preparing briefings for external events, conceptualising Europe Jacques Delors’ events, sending out invitations to speakers, developing communication and dissemination strategies for your projects.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in political science, social sciences, history, agricultural economics or a related field;
  • Full proficiency in English (at least C1 level) and French (at least B2 level);
  • Proven professional experience (at least 3-5 years) in any field related to policy and research;
  • Previous experience in think tanks, research or the agri-food sector is considered an asset;
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills to develop impact- and sustainability-oriented analysis;
  • Excellent organisational skills, strong time management skills and the ability to respond to urgent tasks;
  • Advanced knowledge of the European Union, its institutions and legislative processes; good knowledge of the European Green Deal and sustainability issues related to agriculture is considered an asset;
  • A strong sense of initiative, a commitment to Europe Jacques Delors’ topics and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
