Position description

Patient and Stakeholder Engagement Manager (Remote)

About Global Heart Hub:

Global Heart Hub (GHH) is the first international non-profit organisation established to provide a voice for those living with, or affected by, cardiovascular disease. We are an alliance of 100+ heart patient organisations, aiming to create a unified global voice for those living with or affected by heart disease.

Established in 2019 and headquartered in Ireland, our aim is to unite patient groups and advocates from every country in the world under the umbrella of GHH. Our combined mission is to raise awareness of heart disease and the challenges it presents in everyday life. The GHH is a platform for heart patient organisations to share their views, learn from each other’s best practice, unite on common advocacy goals, and share resources. We aim to increase awareness and understanding of the many heart conditions that exist, contribute to improving patient outcomes, enhancing quality of life, and optimising longevity and healthy ageing.

About this role:

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as Patient and Stakeholder Engagement Manager. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including patients, healthcare professionals, industry partners and advocacy groups to advance the GHH mission to position the patient voice as an equal stakeholder in healthcare decision making in all aspects of healthcare and across the care continuum.

This position will report to GHH’s Executive Director and the Operations Manager. This is a full time, fully remote position with the candidate ideally based in Europe.

Remuneration:

Salary commensurate with experience. Full-time position starting with a contract term of one year with opportunity for extension.

If you are passionate about patient-centred care in the field of cardiovascular health, and you are keen to make a positive impact on a global scale, we invite you to consider joining our dynamic international team as Patient and Stakeholder Engagement Manager.

Qualifications

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have significant relevant experience working in the areas of Patient Engagement or Patient Advocacy in a patient organisation, industry, academic or research environment. He/she will hold a relevant primary and/or master’s degree in health, social sciences, psychology, communications, or another relevant discipline. Previous experience in the field of cardiovascular health would be an advantage as would familiarity with global health policies and regulatory environments.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have considerable experience in managing large and complex EU funded or other multistakeholder projects from concept development through to implementation, including simultaneously coordinating and working across multiple work packages, supporting the related communications and dissemination activities and representing the organisation at project related meetings (virtual and face-to-face).

Skills and Attributes:

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English, and ideally in at least one other language.
  • Demonstrable ability to work with cultural sensitivity in multicultural environments, with diverse groups of people for whom English is not their first language.
  • Exceptional organisational, IT and project management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRMs.
  • A self-starter with a proven ability to work equally well on your own initiative, to lead or be part of a team and having the ability to efficiently plan and manage your workload, multi-task and be capable of achieving tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • To lead, develop and manage all GHH patient and stakeholder engagement activities, fostering positive and collaborative relationships with all parties. This will involve identifying and evaluating strategically relevant international patient engagement opportunities for CVD patients and managing the engagement relationships between the patients and all relevant stakeholders throughout the patient engagement journey.

Be responsible for all aspects of project management across stakeholder and patient relationships, contract management, budgets and financial management and general administration. Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, industry partners, researchers, and advocacy groups.
  • Manage the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the GHH patient/stakeholder engagement strategy to support GHH in achieving its strategic and organisational objectives.

  • Identify/create patient engagement opportunities for GHH to work with all healthcare stakeholders across industry, healthcare systems, research, education, service design and development.
  • Represent GHH at external events and meetings as required and as agreed with the Executive Director. This will involve attending and reporting from external events as an attendee and/or as a speaker. In addition, you will be required to represent/co-represent GHH on various committees or participate in meetings with various organisations operating in the PE landscape.
  • Draft and disseminate position and/or other policy documents for CVD patient/stakeholder engagement based on research and consultation with patient organisations and patient advocate affiliates.
  • Prepare briefings, speaking notes and presentations for the Executive Director, as requested.
  • Support other work of the GHH team as assigned or as needed from time to time.
  • Establish metrics and systems to monitor the level, quality and impact of GHH patient/stakeholder engagement.
