Currently seeking an energetic, dynamic and resourceful Department of Defense Policy Analyst to join a fast-growing firm delivering high-value consulting services that are enabled by cutting-edge technologies. The Policy Analyst will employ mid- to senior-level experience with the DoD to analyze and report on the impacts of existing and proposed policy changes on the Office of Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy. This effort requires a thorough understanding of the policy development process within the DoD, as well as collecting, extracting, analyzing, and summarizing data to propose policy initiatives to senior level Defense officials.
Responsibilities included, but not limited to:
- Serve as the program’s leader in policy, procedures, directives, instructions, and guidance on matters impacting the Department’s maintenance of the US defense industrial base.
- Conduct research and analysis to develop preliminary findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Prepare written reports, briefings, and summaries on policy research.
- Assist with preparation, presentation, and follow-up of briefings and meetings; prepare notes from meetings; and recommend follow-up action.
- Interact with senior officials working at the ASD and USD levels to identify evolving strategic plans that may require research in existing policy and directives; develop draft versions of policy and directives for review.
- Draft policies, procedures and controls affecting acquisition planning, contract award, and contract management (both FAR and non-FAR based) for the MIBP program.
- Synchronize and coordinate efforts related to MIBP policy and directives, instructions, guidelines, etc. within the program, and within key stakeholders such as the military services and technical business partners.
- Bachelors degree in Economics, Political Science, Government & Politics, or related area of study.
- 5+ years of work experience in a policy advisor role.
- Previous work experience with the DoD.
- A general understanding of FAR/DFAR, and related acquisition programs (e.g., non-FAR based methods, TIA, DoDGAR) used to engage industry and acquire innovative products and services.
- A high degree of initiative or self-initiative, proactive nature, and desire to overcome obstacles and impediments.
- Superior product quality that is measured by a low rate of error and a high degree of comprehensiveness or thoroughness, and timeliness.
- Effective collaboration with peers, customers, and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in interactions with senior government officials.
- ACTIVE SECRET clearance.
- Master’s degree in Law, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
- DAWIA certification.
- Demonstrated experience working in a federal interagency environment, including collaboration with multiple U.S. government departments and agencies on joint programs.
- Demonstrated experience briefing executive-level audiences.
