Position description

The Department of History and International Studies invites applications for a full-time career track position in International Studies. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or be working towards completion of a doctoral degree in Political Science, International Studies, or International Relations with a specialization in Asia or the Asia-Pacific region.  Candidates must be qualified to teach courses on the politics and international relations of Asia or the Asia-Pacific region, as well as contribute to our MA Diplomacy and Military Studies program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or current enrollment in a doctoral program in Political Science, International Relations, International Studies, or a similar discipline with a specialization in Asia or the Asia-Pacific region
  • Ability to teach classes scheduled during weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays
  • Ability to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary

 
Desired Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, International Studies, or a similar discipline with a specialization in Asia or the Asia-Pacific region
  • College-level teaching experience
  • Experience teaching university students in a diverse environment

 
Other Qualifications: 

  • Successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing excellent time and stress-management skills.
