Position description

A new start up think thank is seeking a full-time Social Media Coordinator to begin by May 1, 2017.

A new start up think in Washington, DC that specializes in the Middle East, with a focus on the Gulf, is seeking a passionate social media coordinator to contribute to a growing communications team.

Reporting to the Director of Digital, the Coordinator will be responsible for managing the think tank’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), its website, and provide communications support to events and other activities. He/she will have a strong background managing social media campaigns with experience growing followers and outreach. He/she will also be responsible for analyzing social media (engagements, followers), and website (page visits, clicks, SEI) data, and draft weekly summary reports for review. 


Qualifications and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or relevant Degree;
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in one or more of these areas: communications, social media, public affairs;
  • Excellent knowledge of English; Excellent knowledge in Arabic;
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively using social media for impact, and growing social media following; especially on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Web design and editing experience; knowledge of CMS or CSS software a plus.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign other or design software.
  • Familiarity with email campaign services such as MailChimp;
  • Capacity to work productively and contribute across different teams;\Ability to multi-task and adapt to a constantly changing workflow;
  • Ability to work nights and weekends when needed;
  • Strong background and understanding of the Gulf and/or the greater Middle East, with significant time spent living in the region a plus. 

Salary will be dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
