Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as subject matter expert on UnitedHealth Group immigration cases, managing the day-to-day administration of internal and external Global immigration requests for short and long term expatriates as well as permanent transfers. 

  • Drafting of immigration documentation such as work permit applications, business support letters and traveler pocket letters for review and final sign off

  • Facilitate in the processing of H-1B, L1, E2, B1 and permanent residency as well as any global work permits

  • Consult with employees and leadership on potential and actual movement of resources across the globe as it relates to immigration and proactively identify the impact on the business

  • Accountable for the tracking and auctioning of work permit expiry and extension

  • Liaise with immigration legal counsel, review documentation, sign off on behalf of the organization and manage flow of information

  • Provides high touch service, responding the employees calls and queries, answering and assisting with any immigration related questions

  • Works closely with the broader HR and human capital teams to advise of changes in immigration policies and/or regulations

  • Advise business leaders regarding timing of immigration processes and relevant business impact

  • Responsible for reporting and budgeting guidance to internal stakeholders

  • Provides the education and scope required to ensure UnitedHealth group is compliant with immigration requirements and regional customs. Recognize and escalate immediate compliance concerns

  • Initiates and maintains Certificates of Coverage

  • Supports Global Mobility Analysts with day to day administration of Global relocation and cross border movements (Perm transfer/Expatriates)

  • Assist with RFP’s and contribute with the management of the overall vendors

  • Other duties and projects as assigned

  • This position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Global Mobility at UnitedHealth Group

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants need to meet the qualifications listed in this posting. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources or other similar degree

  • 10 or more years of experience with Global Immigration and/or Mobility for multi-national companies  

  • Knowledge and experience working with tax, legal, compensation, benefits, and immigration issues (specifically in the area of Visa/Work Permit filings)

  • Working knowledge of HR policies and processes

  • Experienced with business traveler programs and related compliance needs

  • Understanding of international relations and prevailing international landscape

  • Experience in the development and implementation of initiatives from strategy through execution

  • Experience working with senior leadership and the ability to operate and influence in matrix and flexible environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GMS & Paralegal certification would be considered a significant asset

  • Strong customer service orientation and vendor management skills

  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to organize and present information in a clear and concise way to a variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated commitment to developing staff skills and building capabilities
