Position description

The School of International Service (SIS) at American University (AU) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment for AY 17-18 and AY 18-19. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointment is for a two year period commencing on July 1, 2017, with the expectation that the appointment will be renewed for subsequent academic years based on satisfactory performance and budgetary authorization. The position is intended for a person who would serve as Director of the Graduate Program in U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security (USFPNS).

We are especially interested in candidates who specialize in U.S. foreign policy and/or U.S. national security and who could provide leadership for the USFPNS Program. In addition, the person selected would teach graduate and undergraduate courses in SIS. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service. The ideal candidate would have a record of excellence in teaching and management. Applicants holding a Ph.D. or the highest equivalent degree in a relevant discipline will be preferred. Salary is competitive.
