Position description

Note: While this position has been conceived of as an entry-level position, more experienced individuals are also encouraged to apply.

This is a fast-paced and challenging entry-level position that involves coordinating the inputs of a large number of experienced humanitarian practitioners and other subject matter experts (SMEs). It is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented, energetic, well-organized, and ambitious professional with an understanding of the humanitarian sector to join PHAP’s team in Geneva and become immersed in both the content of the certifications and the rigorous processes for developing and maintaining certification programs at the highest global standard.

The Credentialing Program Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the systematic drafting, review, and pre-testing of questions for all six certification assessments, drawing contributions from volunteer SMEs at every stage. He or she will also be responsible for various support tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the PHAP Credentialing Program. Over time, additional responsibilities may be added, such as facilitating scoping exercises, job task analyses, and processes for establishing assessment cut-off scores. The Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring that all such processes are fastidiously documented.

The Credentialing Program Coordinator will benefit from the guidance of experienced colleagues within PHAP, as well as coaching from industry-leading assessment and certification experts engaged as consultants to the Program.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the humanitarian sector, in particular the humanitarian ecosystem and the application of humanitarian principles in practice (preferred method of demonstrating this understanding is through holding valid PHAP Credentialing Program certifications in these areas);
  • Ability to quickly and convincingly develop understanding of key concepts in specialized professional areas;
  • Ability to recruit, manage, and engage multiple volunteer expert networks simultaneously;
  • Excellent analytical capacity and ability to craft clear, concise, and precise written content;
  • Ability to manage, monitor, and improve complex workflows;
  • Eagerness to learn about credentialing standards (in particular ISO/IEC 17024) and how to apply them in practice to the development and maintenance of professional certifications for humanitarian practitioners globally;
  • Strong computer and database management skills;
  • High professional standards and strong work ethic;
  • Excellent English writing ability.

  • Professional fluency in French and/or Arabic.

  • Location: Geneva, Switzerland
  • Starting date: June 2017
  • Full-time schedule of five days (40 hours) per week
  • Occasional international travel may be required
  • Monthly salary: 4’000 – 5’500 CHF, depending on experience
