Position description

The incumbent serves as a Senior Enforcement Investigations Officer within one of two Enforcement Divisions of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). OFAC enforces, implements and administers the Nation's economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals. Effective enforcement of these sanctions programs through the detection and investigation of possible violations is critical to their success.

Duties

As a Senior Enforcement Investigations Officer you will:

- Independently oversee, coordinate, manage, and conduct complex investigations of international commercial and trade transactions.
- Apply technical written and oral communication skills to convey findings, analysis, and recommendations.
- Apply investigative strategies and techniques, including use of subpoenas, research tools, and witness interviews.
- Compile and analyze information from a wide variety of sources to identify critical facts and issues, determine priorities, research precedents, organize documentary evidence, and apply law and policy to facts found.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for the GS-14 includes ALL of the following:
• Overseeing, coordinating, managing and/or conducting investigations of international commercial or trade transactions, and U.S. economic sanctions;
• Applying written and oral communication skills regarding investigations of international commercial or trade transactions, and U.S. economic sanctions to convey findings, analysis, and recommendations;
• Applying investigative strategies and techniques, such as the use of subpoenas, research tools, document management systems, and witness interviews;
• Understanding of international trade and finance transactions through demonstrated work experience, export controls or international trade compliance regulations and economic sanctions programs;
• Compiling and analyzing information to identify facts and issues, determine priorities, research precedents, organize documentary evidence, and apply law and policy to facts found.

Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for the GS-13 must include experience in at least (3) of the following:
• Assisting in conducting investigations of international commercial or trade transactions, and/or U.S. economic sanctions;
• Applying written and oral communication skills regarding investigations of international commercial or trade transactions and/or U.S. economic sanctions to convey findings and recommendations;
• Applying investigative strategies and techniques which may include the use of subpoenas, document management systems, and research tools; and/or
• Working within a team or group setting to compile and/or analyze information to identify facts and issues, determine priorities, research precedents, organize documentary evidence, or apply law and policy to facts found.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
