Position description

As a member of the Office of International Programs (OIP), this position will work closely with the Assistant Director of International Programs and will oversee the implementation of the study abroad management software, Horizons. Additionally, this position will plan and run study abroad events, manage student worker projects, track budgets and revamp and re-work the pre and post study abroad programing including study abroad orientations. This position works independently and with the OIP team to achieve specific goals and objectives related to international programs. 

Responsibilities: 

Study Abroad Events

  • Plan and facilitate pre-departure and region-specific orientations for 200+ students each year
  • Coordinate the study abroad fair
  • Develop, manage and lead events to promote study abroad opportunities and resources
  • Coordinate and develop pre and post study abroad programing including orientations

Study Abroad Management Software

  • Oversee the role-out of Horizons
  • Handle all Horizons inquiries
  • Manage Horizons to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff 

Social Media

  • Develop social media strategies for engaging students, parents, faculty, alumni, and other members of the Puget Sound community

Other

  • Manage student worker projects
  • Track office budgets
  • Other projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and commitment to international education
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to advise with sensitivity, including appropriate referrals, maintain confidentiality, and handling sensitive matters with tact and discretion
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Products and social media
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s Degree in a field pertinent to international education such as: international education, intercultural communications, international relations, student services personnel, or higher education administration.
  • Experience studying, living, or working abroad
  • Experience working with university staff, students, and faculty
  • Experience tracking and recording detailed information
  • Second language skills desirable.
  • Marketing experience
