Position description

Overview

CFR Outreach targets communities in a cross-section of American life, including educators and students; congregational leaders, religion scholars, and representatives of faith-based organizations; and state and local government officials. The program coordinator will primarily support CFR’s Religion and Foreign Policy Program, which provides a forum for religion scholars and congregational leaders to interact with CFR experts and discuss a broad range of international issues. 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting with planning and logistics of Outreach roundtables, conference calls, workshops, and conferences by drafting and sending event-related correspondence, tracking responses and participation, researching background materials, preparing meeting materials, drafting thank you notes, updating meeting records in database, completing post-event reports, and participating in brainstorming for program topics
  • Cultivating strong relationships with new and existing Outreach constituents through regular email correspondence and calls
  • Maintaining a large database of contacts, including researching and compiling contract information for constituents
  • Coordinating the traditional, online, and social media marketing of CFR materials and publications to Outreach constituents and tracking the results—this includes placing print and online ads and developing the online content for the dedicated Outreach webpages, monthly and quarterly eNewsletters, and Twitter feeds
  • Tracking activities for Outreach efforts in calendars, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Providing general project support to the department, including attending and working at National Program and Outreach events held outside of business hours

 

Qualifications

  • Three or more years related program planning experience, including project management experience
  • Master’s degree in a field related to religion and foreign policy with high academic achievement
  • Experience working with diverse sectors and leaders; preferably with government actors, religious leaders, academics, and related constituencies
  • Understanding of and interest in diverse faith traditions and religious communities and general current knowledge of international relations and U.S. foreign policy issues
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with an ability to effectively multi-task and meet deadlines; detail oriented with strong proofreading and editing skills
  • Enthusiastic team player with positive and flexible attitude, ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong MS Word, Excel, and database skills
  • Experience in social media and/or online marketing as well as working with budgets and billing, preferred
