Position description

The Cyber and Social Media Division at IDS International government contracting firm is offering a  internship opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students. This internship is an opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in government services or the computer science field. 

Internship features:

Internship with the potential to continue work after spring semester, if mutually agreeable 
Work will be performed in the innovative Cyber and Social Media Division, which serves a variety of clients across the Department of Defense and Law Enforcement entities 
Work will focus on several areas including, but not limited to: social media exploitation, social media marketing, instructional development, intelligence, IT, software development, programming, virtual machines, DNS networking, HTML, and internet bots  
Opportunities include:

  • Meetings and conferences with the ability and interact with clients and contractors in industry and the opportunity to build a larger professional network
  • Valuable experience in the methodology and importance behind social media analytics as it pertains to national security
  • The chance to observe how cybersecurity and social media interact
  • Chance to participate in company-wide events and social activities
  • Interns are paid hourly rate
  • Request Interns work approximately 25-30 hours per week


  • Pursuing BS/BA/BBA/MS/MA degree in International Relations, International Studies, Security, Political Science, Media Studies, Cybersecurity, Intelligence, Counterterrorism, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Undergraduates must possess a minimum of 80 credit hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytic skills
  • General knowledge and familiarity with social media platforms
  • Comprehensive understanding of national security issues
  • Ability to commit for minimum of 3 months
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. secret security clearance if needed (requires US citizenship)
  • Knowledge of the U.S. Military helpful but not essential
  • Knowledge of critical languages (i.e. Arabic, Farsi, Russian, Urdu, Spanish, Turkish, French etc.) helpful but not essential
  • Experience writing intelligence briefs helpful but not essential
  • Experience with network engineering and website design a plus
