Position description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Human Rights Project Assistant, to work within the Human Rights Unit in our Governance Directorate.

The Human Rights Project Assistant will work within the team and will be assigned thematic and country areas of work by the Head of Human Rights, which will address strategic priorities but also respond to the vibrant and rapid developments which are a feature of the Commonwealth landscape.

The Human Rights Project Assistant will have responsibility inclusive of research, advocacy and capacity development initiatives. His/her role will focus on thematic human rights issues across the Commonwealth as well as specific matters which may arise within a Member State.

To be considered, you will need to have completed a relevant post-graduate programme in a relevant field of study such as law, human rights, international relations, social policy or development studies. The successful candidate will have three to five years’ relevant experience at national and/or international levels, in implementing and promoting best practice in human rights, proven human rights research experience and proven experience in project planning, development and delivery.
