The Virginia Military Institute’s Department of International Studies and Political Science (IS) announces a one-year, full-time visiting assistant professor position in U.S. National Security Policy, beginning 01 August 2018. The appointment is for a 4-4 teaching load.
The primary teaching responsibility is an undergraduate course on the history, development, and future of U.S. National Security Policy, which is a mid-level core requirement in the IS curriculum. Candidates would also be expected to teach two upper-level undergraduate elective courses on security studies-related topics. The visiting professor may be eligible for other professional resources during his/her one-year appointment, such as on-campus housing and travel funding.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Political Science or International Relations is preferred, but ABD applicants expecting to complete their dissertation prior to appointment will be considered. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.
