Position description

Daimler North America Corporation holds direct or indirect equity in Daimler AG subsidiaries in the US and manages Daimler Canada Finance Inc. (DCFI) in Canada. Daimler's Treasury USA/Canada group accesses the capital markets to raise funds for the Daimler Group utilizing Commercial Paper, Asset-Backed Securities (ABS), EMTNs and Private Placement programs. It maintains an in-house cash management system and manages risk through foreign exchange and interest rate risk management products.

Job Overview:

 Assist General Manager-Federal Affairs in developing strategies for lobbying the Congress and US Administration on international trade issues impacting Daimler AG and its US business units. 

Responsible for identifying international issues impacting Daimler AG and its US business units, including trade, transatlantic relations,anti-dumping, tariffs, restrictions on foreign investment and procurement, US sanctions activities, etc.

Engage embassies, trade associations, “think tanks” (particularly GMF, Brookings Institute, McCain Institute), key offices within the Congress and Administration and internal stakeholders on relevant issues of interest.

Help manage overall public policy process for External Affairs Washington.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist General Manager-Federal Affairs in developing strategies for lobbying Congress, Administration on international issues impacting Daimler AG and its US business units   (50%)

  • Identifying international issues impacting Daimler AG and its US business units   (30%)

  • Manage international issues with a focus on transatlantic and US-German relations. Coordinate issue management with other internal stakeholders.   (20%)

Qualifications

This role requires a minimum of 10+ years of overall work experience. Preferred work experience includes:

  • Trade & International Affairs

  • International Sales 

  • Ability to facilitate international sale discussions with Embassies and other countries

Bachelors Degree is required. Preferred majors included:

  • International Affairs

  • Public Policy 

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of US trade policy and procedures; German language speaker preferred

  • Demonstration of presentation skills and ability to analyze issues

  • Flexibility to travel and represent Daimler public forums
