Position description

The Baha’i Chair for World Peace is seeking a part-time events/administrative assistant (20 hours) to provide event and administrative support to the office. The Baha’i Chair is an endowed academic program that advances interdisciplinary examination and discourse on global peace, and hosts a wide range of events on the University of Maryland campus and in other locations. The administrative assistant will be actively engaged in the detailed logistics and administration of our events as well as in providing other administrative support to the Chair. The administrative assistant will work on the events hosted by the Chair and other administrative tasks assigned by the Chair and the Assistant Director. Responsibilities will include:

• Compiling and distributing office communications and correspondence;
• Managing an active calendar of appointments
• Arranging travel plans, itineraries, and agendas 
• Providing administrative and logistical support for events
• Working with other departments for planning and marketing of events 
• Coordinating with event participants
• Supporting the marketing of events 
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Documents (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
• Exceptional organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferences:

Experience in organizing and planning events
Experience in executive administration
