Global Glimpse is a visionary nonprofit that inspires America's next generation to become responsible global citizens through after school workshops and a 16-day summer immersion program in Latin America. Started in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007, Global Glimpse has grown to serve 1000 high school students annually. Global Glimpse works to make global education accessible to all; our program delivers true socioeconomic, ethnic and experiential diversity. The majority of Global Glimpse students receive significant scholarships to participate in the program. Global Glimpse gives youth an opportunity to gain a broader perspective on the world and develop the motivation, resiliency, and confidence to tackle challenges in their communities and in their lives.

Position Summary

The Chicago Program Associate is a 9-month part-time position that will work closely with our Chicago Regional Manager to support the administrative and logistical aspects of our Chicago program. This role will also support events that include, but are not limited to, GG Leader educator trainings, parent sessions at our partner schools, Alumni Ambassador Summits and annual fundraising events. This is an opportunity to get hands-on experience in a fast-paced, educational and international non-profit organization.

Principal Responsibilities

Program Support: 70-80% of role

Core duties of role will focus on the following items. Due to our program cycle, specific types of activities listed below will ebb and flow based on the academic program calendar.

  • Process student applications
  • Cross check tax documents and approve scholarship allocation
  • Process student deposits & student payments
  • Support GG Leader trainings and Alumni Ambassador summits (weekend program events) by tracking RSVPs, managing food vendors, ordering and organizing materials
  • Manage processing of GG Leader background checks
  • Prep materials for GGL trainings, student recruitment presentations, Alumni Ambassador Summits and parent sessions
  • Present at GG Leader trainings, Alumni Ambassador summits and parent sessions
  • Prepare and send general program communications (using Mailchimp platform)
  • Post regional event photos or news to Global Glimpse’s social media outlets with additional support from marketing team at Bay Area head office.
  • General office organization and filings

Event Support: 20-30% of role

With event support, there will be occasional nights and weekends required for this position.

  • Attend and support event logistics for 3 weekend GG Leader educator trainings
  • Attend and support event logistics for 5 weekend Alumni Ambassador Summits
  • Attend and support event logistics for 1-2 regional fundraising events
  • Manage logistical communication and RSVPs to promote attendance
  • Prepare event materials
  • Research / outreach to event venues and vendors
  • Help coordinate event space logistics (catering, A/V, venue confirmation)
  • Capture photography / marketing opportunities of Global Glimpse events

An average of 12 hours a week (with seasonal increases of up to 20 hours), $15 an hour minimum (Sept 1st – May 31st), with occasional evenings and 8 weekend dates throughout the academic year. The ideal candidate would be able to increase their availability to work in December and January.

  • Passion for international education and youth development
  • Completed a Bachelor's degree in business administration, international relations, international education or related field
  • Photography skills a plus
  • Self-motivated and adaptable - can work successfully in an independent environment, as well as in a small team environment
  • Experience in the non-profit sector preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with youth preferred, but not required
  • Experience living and working in the developing world a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse students, teachers, and families
  • Ability to engage professionally with parents, educators, and other external stakeholders
  • Highly organized, strong time management skills, ability to multitask
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Experience with admin tasks like payment tracking, accounting, and budget management preferred, but not required
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Salesforce, Mailchimp
