The New Zealand Mission to the European Union wishes to recruit a Policy Adviser, on permanent contract starting September or October 2018. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Knowledge of European institutions, particularly the European Parliament;
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills;
  • Experience in or knowledge of foreign and security policy;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

In this busy position, you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis and preparing policy reports on areas of key strategic interest to the Mission in the foreign policy, human rights and security sphere. You will also support the Mission’s engagement with officials, stakeholders, and in particular the European parliament.

The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders will be key to your success. We are looking for a team-player with a can-do attitude.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Other languages (particularly French or Dutch) would be an advantage.

Applicants must have the right to reside and work in Belgium. The successful applicant will be employed under local terms and conditions.

The Mission will not be responsible for any costs incurred associated with relocation, accommodation, work permits and visa costs, nor the return of the officer and/or family to their country of origin at the end of the contract.
