SIPRI is an independent international institute whose core mission is to undertake research and activities on security, conflict and peace. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. SIPRI provides excellent opportunities for scientific and personal development and is an equal opportunity employer.
SIPRI’s research agenda has long focused on issues relating dual-use and arms trade controls. SIPRI’s work on dual-use and arms trade controls seeks to raise the quality of information available on national, multilateral and international export control systems and standards as well as promoting further improvements in all of these areas. This involves producing research and publications, developing tools and concepts, conducting seminars and other awareness-raising activities, and carrying out capacity-building efforts.
Recent projects have involved building state capacity in areas relevant to Arms Trade Treaty implementation, reviewing measures for strengthening dual-use items and arms trade controls, examining the impact of rapidly advancing technologies on this field, and providing expertise to a range of states. More information is available here.
