Do you have an idea for making journalism better? Apply for a chance to be a 2019 Knight Visiting Nieman Fellow and spend up to 12 weeks at Harvard to work on your special project designed to advance journalism. Projects may be related to research, programming, design, financial strategies or other topics. Both U.S. and international candidates are invited to apply. Those who should consider applying include journalists, publishers, technologists, entrepreneurs, programmers, designers, media analysts, academics and others who want to improve journalism.
Fellows not supported by an employer during the fellowship will receive a stipend of $1,350 per week. If an employer keeps the fellow on salary during the fellowship because the project benefits the organization, a fellowship stipend will not be provided.
Additionally, fellows who don’t reside in the Boston area or otherwise have accommodations will have free use of a furnished one-bedroom apartment for the length of the fellowship.
