Position description

CRDF Global seeks an Associate Project Manager (APM) to support the implementation of nuclear security projects, in particular for the Department of State’s Partnership for Nuclear Threat Reduction (PNTR). The APM will be responsible for managing technical, financial and administrative aspects of a portfolio of projects that seek to mitigate the risk posed by insider threats and improve nuclear security culture in partner countries. The APM may also support other projects, including but not limited to counterproliferation and sanctions enforcement. This is a project management position that combines substantive and operational aspects of international capacity building programs to improve nuclear security. The APM will also contribute to growth of the Nuclear Security Practice Area through proposal development, participation in capture teams, and promotion of our work to external audiences.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Interact daily with managers and funders to coordinate planning and organizational tasks for site visits, conferences, meetings, workshops, training sessions, and/or other events
  • Develop project plans, including implementation schedules, workflows, budgets and financial projections
  • Develop project evaluation criteria and collect and analyze project deliverables
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining consultants, and prepare statements of work
  • Support CRDF Global-wide development efforts in coordination with the business development group and supervisory staff, including through research, conducting outreach to partners, and drafting concept notes for new projects
  • Travel internationally (approximately twice per year) to participate, facilitate, and/or follow up events as appropriate


  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in nuclear nonproliferation or nuclear security
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent project management, writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of completion and meet deadlines
  • Good diplomatic and negotiating skills and good judgment
  • Willing and able to travel internationally and domestically
  • U.S. work authorization
