Amnesty Tech, the newly created Programme under the Research directorate are now seeking a Deputy Director. In this role you will lead and ensure the effective implementation of Amnesty International’s projects, research, and strategy on technology and human rights issues within the team's brief. The Deputy Director will lead on specific projects and initiatives. and will manage related staff, budgets and work to ensure delivery within the agreed strategy; provide advice and guidance to the International Secretariat (IS) senior leadership and staff, and to sections and structures; ensure the development; and deputize for the Global Director.
With significant expert knowledge of technology and its intersection with the promotion and protection of human rights, you will have excellent research and writing skills, demonstrated in a range of publications. You will have experience of conducting and managing research, including field research, for advocacy purposes and/or demonstrated experience of developing and managing technology-enabled solutions for the protection of human rights. An excellent public speaker, you will be able to writing and editing skills in English, with understanding of developing and managing advocacy and campaigns and experience of managing people and budgets. You will have strong credibility and relationship building skills, including experience of influencing and negotiating at a senior level with governments, corporations and intergovernmental bodies.
