HII - Mission Driven Innovative Solution (HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.

HII-MDIS is currently seeking qualified candidates to support an upcoming anticipated contract. We are seeking to build a cadre of experienced and interested personnel to fulfil contract obligations upon award. HII-MDIS requests only applicants that meet job requisition requirements apply. HII-MDIS is currently seeking Senior Level Exploitation Specialists/Linguists (uncleared) to work in a "virtual workforce environment" for our customer located in the Northern Virginia area.

The Senior Exploitation Specialist/Linguists is able to monitor, collect, and condition (e.g. structure, categorize/code/tag, highlight, comment on) foreign open source information to include social media, radio, television, newspapers, blogs, websites, and various internet sites.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise and a keen understanding of the information environment as they identify items meeting mission requirements, condition this data in accordance with customer instructions, and, if necessary, import it into a data repository designated by the customer.

  • The Senior Exploitation Specialist/Linguists may also review feeds from English-language sources to determine suitability for further dissemination in customer's reporting stream and condition/enrich selected items according to Sponsor requirements.

  • The Senior Exploitation Specialist/Linguists must possess fundamental knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Office suite and Internet tools and be able to follow technical instructions for the use of exploitation tools and data-centric processes.

  • The Senior Exploitation Specialist/Linguists must be able to describe the information environment, and alert the customer to changes, including shifts in the biases, influence, and overall intelligence value of sources. Exploitation specialists must also be knowledgeable about Internet penetration rates, and patterns of use across a variety of print and broadcast formats, social media platforms, and digital and mobile applications.

Qualifications

Required –

  • Must have between 3-10 years’ experience evaluating. evaluating sources, conducting research, synthesizing and summarizing findings, and writing reports in English in accordance with designated standards, or they have commensurate training or education in a relevant field of study.

  • A score of 3 to 3+ for translation into English on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale

  • Language ability in one of the following languages: Arabic (Modern Standard and all dialects); Chinese-Cantonese; Chinese-Mandarin (all dialects); Chinese-Shanghai/Wu; Chinese-Fukien/Taiwanese; Dari; Persian/Farsi; French; Japanese; Pashto; Russian; Turkish; &/or Urdu

  • Must possess significant subject matter expertise or education in politics, leadership, culture, religion, international relations, economics, energy, counter proliferation, cyber threats, counternarcotic, military, science and technology, counterterrorism, or media of a particular country or region.

  • Must also must demonstrate an understanding of information collected from the latest digital media platforms, widely used terminology, find and/or extract information from various sources, and evaluate source authoritativeness and relevance.

  • US Citizen

  • BA/BS Degree with either/or Foreign Affairs, Language, History, Economics, Journalism concentration

  • At least one year experience in either/or translation, journalism, foreign affairs, or editing

Preferred –

  • Previous experience with unclassified Open Source tools, technologies, and systems currently in use at customer that relate to this effort. These tools include customer's main production system, customer's data organization, search, and discovery tool used to structure, triage, track, and select data for exploitation and reporting, customer's audio and video collection platforms and repositories, and a suite of tools available on customer's Open Source network.

  • Experience in the Intelligence Community

  • Experience with multiple IC organizations
