Position description

IFOAM EU is seeking a full-time Communications Coordinator who will have the opportunity to work on a variety of food and farming related topics. You will be working with small, but highly motivated team on maintaining and further developing IFOAM EU’s communications, communications tools and outreach activities towards media, organic stakeholders and a general audience. You will be based in Brussels.

Key tasks:

  1. Social and traditional media outreach (30%)
    1.1.Drafting interviews, press releases and other media-related content
    1.2.Monitoring social media accounts and managing the quality of social media presence 1.3.Monitoring IFOAM EU’s traditional media impact

  2. European projects and IFOAM EU events related communications (30%)
    2.1.Supervising publications’ production and design processes; liaison with designers and other

    2.2.Drafting project communications and dissemination plans
    2.3.Monitoring and reporting on project-related and communications tasks related to the LIFE

    2.4.Execution of event-related communications tasks

  3. Communications Tools (30%)
    3.1.Website maintenance, content drafting and liaison with colleagues regarding website updates 3.2.Support role in the production of IFOAM EU newsletter

    3.3. Support role in the maintenance and the evolution of other communications tools: Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, intranet and extranet, Wiki

  4. Other tasks falling under the umbrella of communications (10%)
    4.1.Supporting the Communications Officer in tasks related to the European Organic Comms Hub

    (IFOAM EU’s Expert Group on communications)
    4.2.Supporting the Communications Officer regarding sponsors’ visibility 4.3.Supporting the fulfilment of GDPR requirements linked to communications activities

What kind of person are we looking for?

Education & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Communications, International Affairs, Public Relations or equivalent

Experience - Essential

  • At least 3 years of experience in communications or media, preferably within the EU context

  • Excellent verbal and written command of English

  • Skills in social media and communications

  • Experience in developing print and online content

  • Experience in Content Management Systems (preferably Drupal or WordPress) and Constituent Relationship Management systems (preferably CiviCRM)

  • Good command of MS Office applications package

Experience - Desirable

  • Basic graphic design skills and knowledge of online tools

  • Command of French

  • Knowledge of EU Institutions and EU processes

  • Work experience in Non-Governmental Organisations

  • High attention to detail and good organisational skills

  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment

  • Flexible and able to adapt to new situations

  • Good interpersonal skills, confident in communicating with different target groups

Conditions of employment

  • Full time position

  • Only EU citizens or possess a valid Belgian working permit

  • Based at the IFOAM EU office in Brussels

  • Monday to Friday, 38 hours/week

  • Salary between 25.000€ and 33.000€ annual gross salary depending on qualifications

  • Extra-legal benefits such as meal voucher, health insurance, transport fees reimbursement
