Position description

The Center for International Policy has received a generous gift to endow our internship program in memory of former Ambassador Robert White and his wife, Maryanne White. During his distinguished career in the Foreign Service, he was the U.S. ambassador to Paraguay and El Salvador, as well as earlier postings primarily in Latin America. He was known worldwide for his outspoken and unrelenting promotion of democracy and human rights.

In 1989, Ambassador White became president of the Center for International Policy. During his 20 years at CIP, he took a special interest in mentoring our interns.

How to apply

Applicants for internships should submit application materials for any of the internships listed below at any time. We begin reviewing applications in November for the spring semester (January-May), in March for the summer semester (May-August), and in June for the fall semester (August-December) and continue on a rolling basis. Start dates, end dates, and weekly schedules are flexible.

Interns will be provided with a stipend during their internship. The stipend will be given to help defray expenses incurred in connection with volunteering at CIP. Each intern is responsible for reporting and payment of all taxes due or owing to any taxing authority pursuant to his or her internship. Interns will be provided with a tax form for reporting purposes. The stipend amount will be $500 per month for full-time interns.
