The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO is seeking a pro-active and collaborative Program Specialist to join our team in support of our global programs related to HIV, TB, laboratory services and global health security. If you possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate across cultures, as well as experience working in developing countries, preferably Africa, you are the person we are seeking. You will work closely with the Program Planning Manager for our international initiatives to coordinate and support the implementation of grant-funded programs. You will also support grant writing for new initiatives and contribute to report writing for current grants. The Program Specialist will be involved in training of international partners during our monthly ECHO Immersion training events in Albuquerque and in their countries.
As a Program Specialist, you will possess the following key skills and abilities:
• Project management and record keeping
• Coordinating video calls with a variety of stakeholders and providing meeting summaries
• Supporting partners on the use of Project ECHO specific software
• Persistence in following up with stakeholders
• Critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills

This position will require some domestic and international travel and availability for early morning video conference calls with our African partners as well as occasional evening meetings.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree
• Previous work experience [6+ months] in developing countries, especially Africa
• Superior written and verbal communication skills with different cultures and a wide range of backgrounds
• Ability to communicate in multiple languages is a plus [French and Spanish]
• Interest in Global Health and education
