Position description

The Nuclear Threat Initiative is seeking a digital communications manager for our communications team. NTI works to protect our lives, environment, and quality of life now and for future generations. We work to prevent catastrophic attacks with weapons of mass destruction and disruption (WMDD)—nuclear, biological, radiological, chemical, and cyber. The Communications team provides strategic and tactical support, including social media, websites, publications, events, and public education campaigns. We are a busy, collegial team excited about making a difference and adding value in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities: The digital communications manager will work with the communications team and across programs to ensure NTI web properties are functional, secure, visible, and tracking best practices for web design and digital operations. The person also will help guide NTI’s social media practices to promote NTI content and materials, and develop strategies to expand and influence our audiences.

A critical element of the position is to manage Salesforce Cloud and related tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Click & Pledge, FormAssembly) and to train and support NTI staff on Salesforce.

Qualifications

Five years of experience in digital communications, content management systems, website management, and/or database management. Experience in Salesforce. Interest in international affairs, national security and/or nuclear policy is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in related area.

Candidate should be able to work cooperatively with a range of people with diverse interests, backgrounds, dispositions, and staff levels. Are you creative about translating communications needs into intuitive technical solutions? That’s a plus. We need strong communication and service skills, including the ability to explain relevant technical concepts to non-technical audiences, to effectively present information to staff of varying roles and functions, and respond to questions from staff at all levels of the organization. A sense of humor is essential!
