Resources for the Future (RFF) is an independent, nonprofit research institution in Washington, DC. Our mission is to improve environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement.
We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented summer intern to join our Washington, DC, communications team approximately 3 to 4 days a week, starting in May or June 2019. This is a paid position. Our communications intern will support the communications team with a variety of projects, gaining a wide range of experience and skills. Candidates with an interest in economics as well as environment and energy policy will be especially well suited to the role.
Help to research and write communications and marketing materials, including blog posts, fact sheets, explainers, and more.
Support the development of strategic communications plans for publications and initiatives.
Develop targeted contact lists and assist with outreach to academic and policy audiences.
Assist with tracking concrete indicators of the impact of RFF research.
Other duties as necessary.
Relevant academic and/or professional experience in communications, economics, environmental policy, environmental science, political science, or related topics.
Independent worker, comfortable with taking initiative and asking for help alike.
Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience using Asana or similar project management tools would be beneficial in this role.
Excellent communications skills, and the desire to work as part of a collaborative team focused on improving environmental, energy, and natural resource decisionmaking.
Graphic design skills, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Sketch, are beneficial but not required. If you have experience with graphic design, please submit samples of your work.
