Applications are invited for temporary, full-time Advisor positions at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations in New York.
Temporary Advisors, with the guidance and oversight of a supervisor from among the full-time diplomatic staff, will be tasked with supporting, and sometimes leading, on issues of policy across the UN agenda, including in areas such as peace and security, sustainable development, human rights and humanitarian affairs. This could include, for example, promoting Ireland’s policy priorities on one of the six committees of the UN General Assembly or following the agenda of the UN Security Council. In addition, Advisors will be expected to participate in coordination sessions among EU Member States, as well as building contacts across the wider membership. Temporary Advisors will also be called upon to support other activities as they arise, including by assisting in the organisation of events hosted by Ireland and providing logistical support to visiting high-level delegations.
There is one immediate position open. Further positions will commence in early September 2019 for the three months of the 74th General Assembly. The panel established as a result of this competition will be further drawn upon to fill other suitable Advisor positions that may arise until the end of June 2020.
