Bring your passion and expertise to build and develop our social media presence across our European embassies.

The New Zealand Mission to the European Union in Brussels wishes to recruit a Communications/Social Media Adviser, to support the Mission and New Zealand’s Embassies across Europe to build and develop our social media presence.

You will be responsible for developing social media content, as well as providing strategic digital communications advice and training across our network of European embassies. This includes assisting with the planning and delivery of public diplomacy initiatives and activities.

You will possess:

  • Proven experience in communications and social media, including advising on the use of social media tools;
  • Skills in the maximum use of analytics to guide strategy;
  • Experience in using platforms’ advertising engines, and the creation of cut-through content;
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of mainstream social media platforms and their respective participants and audiences;
  • Understanding of the political and social landscape in New Zealand;
  • High level English written and oral communication skills;
  • Good graphic design, editing (photo/video/text), and web publishing skills;
  • Public relations skills, with an ability to establish and nurture a network of contacts as well as plan and deliver public diplomacy initiatives;
  • Strong customer/stakeholder focus, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people;
  • Strong initiative, planning and organisational skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Ability to anticipate issues and think of creative solutions.

You must have the right to reside and work in Belgium.

The contract is a fixed term contract for one year, starting in September 2019.

The successful applicant must be able to obtain and retain a New Zealand Government security clearance.
