Position description

Global Financial Integrity (GFI), a Washington, DC-based think tank, is a global leader in advocating for transparency in the international financial system as a way to facilitate economic development and reduce illicit financial flows, money laundering, tax evasion, and corruption. Reporting to the Policy Director and Transnational Crime Director, the LatAm Research Analyst will support their work with research and analysis in the areas of illicit financial flows, beneficial ownership, financial transparency, transnational crime, and customs fraud, among other issues. Projects will primarily be focused on Latin America.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Policy Director and Transnational Crime Director on Latin America- and issue-based projects with research and analysis.
  • Providing any additional research and support to the President.
  • Coordinating with coalition and in-country partners on projects, work plans, events, etc.

Benefits include paid health insurance for employee, immediate enrollment in a 403(b) retirement plan with up to 5% employer match starting in Year 3, and 10 days of vacation in Year 1 (plus most federal holidays and December 24-January 1).

 

Salary:   $50,000 - $60,000

Qualifications

  • M.A. degree in international relations, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience in illicit financial flows, money laundering, financial transparency, transnational crime, tax evasion and/or corruption.
  • Willing to become an expert in the above-mentioned areas.
  • Experience in open-source research and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated strong writing, communication and organizational skills.
  • Goal setting, time management, and attention to detail and deadlines are paramount.
  • Experience working in Latin America is preferred.
  • Willing to travel internationally for events, meetings, etc.
  • Outgoing personality.
  • Fluency—both written and oral—in Spanish and English is required.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
