Position description

Too Young to Wed is seeking an energetic, highly motivated FT OR PT Associate to join our small but quickly growing high profile and dynamic organization, which provides support for child marriage survivors worldwide and advocates to end the practice globally. The ideal Associate will be hungry to grow and learn, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and globally-minded. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Associate will provide programmatic, development and operational support to sustain the continuous implementation and expansion of Too Young to Wed’s programs in Nigeria, Nepal, Yemen, Kenya, and the U.S., as well as global media advocacy. 


Program Support 

  • Coordinate grantmaking program components for key field partner initiatives; manage online grantee applications, organize materials for selection committees, and manage partnership correspondence
  • Process field grantee transactions
  • Support the administration of an annual scholarship program 
  • Research and draft advocacy materials 
  • Build and maintain programmatic records/databases 
  • Coordinate program monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Coordinate logistics for special events 
  • Respond to requests for information
  • The right candidate may have the opportunity to lead the rollout of a new US based advocacy program

Development/Communications Support 

  • Input, capture, and analyze donor and stewardship data 
  • Draft communication materials, including simple letters and emails 
  • Proofread, format, edit, and distribute materials such as newsletters, news releases, reports, tables, charts, briefing papers, op eds, publications, and web content 
  • Conduct prospect research on foundations, corporations, and individuals 
  • Coordinate stewardship duties for major donors and prospects, including acknowledgement letters, thank you gifts, and update/solicitation mailings 

Operations Support

  • Administrative duties such as scheduling, making travel arrangements, assisting with expense reports, preparing for and taking minutes at meetings, creating and maintaining filing and archiving systems
  • Process vendor payments
  • Serve as the first point of contact with the public via phone, email, and mail
  • Manage and oversee usage of office supplies
  • Support well-functioning office systems and related vendors (phone, software, hardware)


  • Bachelor's degree, in a social science or international affairs a strong plus
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Strong time management skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities, especially under pressure 
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude / Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Works well independently and is a proactive problem-solver
  • Tech savvy and fluent across multiple applications and platforms ; ability to learn new database and other software systems, as well as social media platforms
  • Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend hours, as necessary 
  • Prior nonprofit experience (can be internship/volunteering) required; startup experience a plus 
  • Background and interest in global human rights issues, especially gender justice, a strong plus 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required
