The Department of Political Science at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin January 2, 2020. The position is a full-time, nine-month, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The department seeks to hire a person broadly engaged in research that is field-bridging, adding to our tradition of intellectual diversity. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine rigorous and original scholarship in keeping with the cluster hire themes of race and ethnicity, representation and justice, gender and other categories of identity, andthe politics of inequality. Other research fields and a variety of methodological approaches are welcome.
We are seeking candidates who can teach two courses per fall and two courses per spring semester in the field of International Relations, including courses in their own area of research. The courses will include introductory and advanced undergraduate courses and graduate seminars. We have a preference for candidates combining studies of race and gender with justice or inequality. The successful candidate is also expected to develop experiential learning opportunities for undergraduates and excel in mentoring undergraduate research in the department’s Honors and Junior Fellows programs. Applicants will have a Ph.D. in hand, or will have completed a Ph.D. by December 31, 2019.
