Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Senior Project Officer, Readiness will support CRC International Operations (CRC-IO) to actualize the multi-year Readiness for Global Emergency Response Project. The Project Officer will support project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Through effective information management, the Project Officer will enable team coordination and annual work planning, for timely implementation of activities and effective reporting.

What will you do

  • Work with RGER Project Team and respective IO units to develop, validate and action team-specific project implementation plans, including annual workplans and resourcing requirements
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders for the necessary data/evidence supporting implementation and monitoring as per the indicators selected within the Performance Management Framework (PMF)
  • Produce clear, readable, evidence-based reports on results (project outcomes) which meets the standards for reporting of the Government of Canada
  • Work with relevant project teams and respective CRC units to develop, validate and action team-specific project workplans and resourcing requirements
  • Support the Senior Manager in organizing and recording outcomes of project team meetings
  • Foster team work through a professional exchange of experiences and expertise that can be transferred to other programs/regions, and by participating in inter-departmental tasks as assigned by line manager
  • Follow all CRC’s policies and procedures required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment
  • Ensure sharing and dissemination of program related materials to all concerned actors in the team and with the Canadian Red Cross Society
  • Participate in disaster planning, preparation and response as needed


  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. business administration, disaster preparedness/management, political science/international relations/development studies, etc.);
  • Work experience in any or all aspects of the project management cycle (initiating/ planning; implementing/executing; monitoring, evaluation and/or reporting; project closure)
  • At least three to five years work experience in a related field
  • Excellent demonstrated working experience in matrix environment
  • A strong, proven understanding of the topics of humanitarian assistance, and/or related programming
  • Knowledge of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement 
  • Ability to work effectively with virtual teams
  • Strong project management methodology skills 
  • Self-starter with demonstrated skills in analysis, synthesis and problem solving
  • Excellent writing skills, with an ability to synthesize complex information
  • Strong editing and report finalization skills
  • Good infographics and flow charts skills
  • Strong negotiating, influencing and relationship building skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment

You will stand out if you have

  • A continuing education certificate in a recognized project management institution (CAPM, MPM, PMP, etc. is an asset)
  • Experience with agile methodology in the non-profit sector a strong asset
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Red Cross Society’s international and domestic operations is a definite asset
  • Mastery of MS Office Suite software, MS Project and other project management software is an asset
