EMPEA is the global industry association for private capital in emerging markets. An independent, non-profit organization, the association brings together institutional investors, fund managers, and other private capital investors (family offices, sovereign wealth funds, corporates, etc.) who manage more than US$5t in assets across 130 countries. Under the direction of new incoming leadership, EMPEA is undergoing an important period of growth and new strategic initiatives. In this context, the organization is seeking talented professionals to expand EMPEA’s platform globally in order to promote the sustainable growth of private investment in key markets. Research Analyst – Latin American Region

Salary & Benefits:

$45,000 - $65,000 (based on experience + seniority)

EMPEA is seeking a full-time Latin America-focused Research Analyst to support its efforts to produce industry data and analysis, in-depth reports, and presentations for members and related stakeholders. EMPEA’s data and reports are widely used by its members and other industry professionals for global comparative analysis of private capital activity—inclusive of private equity and venture capital, private credit, and private infrastructure and real assets. EMPEA’s research content is disseminated in the market via proprietary publications, media coverage, conferences and events, and the EMPEA website.

 

The successful candidate will join a dedicated, high-energy team of individuals with an outstanding track record. The Research Analyst’s primary responsibility will be improving the quality of the information in EMPEA’s proprietary database of firms, funds, and transactions by:

  • Systematically collecting information on private capital activity through third-party sources, as well as through direct communication with EMPEA members and other industry stakeholders;
  • Interpreting and entering this information in EMPEA’s proprietary database and knowledge management systems;
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of EMPEA’s data management systems;
  • Cultivating relationships with EMPEA member firms and other industry stakeholders to support direct data collection efforts; and,
  • Building biannual data products and ad hoc presentations and reports in Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in economics, finance, international affairs, statistics, mathematics or similar
  • Full bilingual fluency in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • One or two years of work experience, ideally in a data-intensive research, finance, or international development capacity
  • Strong detail orientation and ability to focus on data-intensive projects
  • Strategic thinking, highly organized self-starting mentality, ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic
  • Strong knowledge of or interest in Latin American markets (with interest in private equity, venture capital, real estate and/or technology preferred)
  • Demonstrated primary and secondary research skills

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience building and managing large datasets
  • Proven analytical ability

  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
