The Program and Communications Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and Academic Services, Online Programs, and will spend 50% of their time supporting the Director of the Master of International Service (MIS) program. This position is responsible for coordinating the outreach, recruitment, marketing, retention, student support, communications, event planning, and interoffice and external partner liaising functions of the MIS and MAIR programs.

This position may be responsible for the supervision of Federal Work Study students and/or graduate assistants assigned to the program.
Essential Functions Continued
Retention, Student Experience, and Community-Building: This position supports retention initiatives through customer service, communications, and community building operations of the Master of International Service (MIS) and Master of International Relations (MAIR) Programs. The incumbent will manage the student onboarding and alumni transition processes, develop new communication methods to reach target audiences, liaise between students, faculty, alumni, and advising offices, and foster spaces for community building both in person and online. The incumbent will also develop and manage an internal strategic communications calendar, develop communication materials, and coordinate campaigns with the goal of spreading awareness about Programs, university resources and deadlines. Materials include but are not limited to student handbook websites, a biweekly newsletter, webinars, videos, emails, flyers, and social media posts. The incumbent plans annual and periodic community events for all program tracks (on campus, online, and international) and maintains relationships with active alumni. Event planning responsibilities may include coordinating with other offices on campus and/or external partners in reserving space, ordering catering, arranging technology/AV support, and/or liaising with campus security. This position also prepares flyers, invitations, and otherwise publicizes the events to the intended audience.
Special Projects and Administrative Support: This position provides administrative and logistical support to the Online Programs Office and the Master of International Service Program Director. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to maintaining office operations (e.g. maintaining office hours, responding to email, answering phone calls); maintaining and updating Program and Partner materials (e.g. worksheets, handbooks); managing the Master of International Service Program’s budget; and maintaining a calendar of deadlines and events for the MIS Program Director. In addition, this position coordinates meetings with the third-party online provider and other SIS staff, including the members of the admissions, advising, online, and career teams, on a regular basis to ensure overall coordination of Program activities within the School of International Service.
Program Assessment and Curriculum Development Support: This position, in collaboration with the Program Director, is responsible for ongoing Program assessment and development. This includes but is not limited to developing, updating, and distributing Program assessment tools, conducting benchmarking activities, and visualizing and framing the data for periodic and annual Program reports. This data will also serve as a foundation for decisions about the MIS Program’s curriculum and activities by the MIS Program Director in collaboration with the incumbent and other offices. The incumbent will identify university resources and coordinate planning and administrative meetings with the affected offices to facilitate the implementation of these decisions.

Experience in a higher education setting preferred.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with an academic setting, have an interest in and experience with the field of international relations, maintain flexibility and have the ability to work as a team player.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Strong communication/writing skills and experience creating content for a variety of audiences. Knowledge of major social media platforms, content management systems and other digital communication channels, the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, and Internet research techniques. Must have strong interpersonal, collaborative, organizational and external representation skills. Attention to detail is required along with initiative and flexibility. Intercultural sensitivity and competence dealing with diverse populations.
Familiarity with survey applications (Survey Monkey/Qualtrics), Microstrategy BI, CommonSpot, InDesign and/or Photoshop for web design and posting a plus. The candidate should be able to perform basic office functions.
