The Department of Political Science at Williams College invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Russian/Post-Soviet Politics, beginning July 1, 2017. We welcome applications from candidates who have completed their PhD. within the last five years and also those who have not yet completed their Ph.D. but will have the PhD. in hand by the start date of the appointment.
Williams is an institution that places a high value on undergraduate teaching. The successful applicant will provide evidence of excellence in teaching, including (if available) teaching evaluations accompanied by comparative or statistical context. We welcome applications from candidates in any area of specialty within Russian/Post-Soviet Politics. We have particular interest in Russian foreign policy, religious and/or ethnic politics, contemporary Russian political thought, and political demography. We also strongly prefer applicants who have a commitment to working effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
The successful candidate will be appointed for a term of two years and will have a teaching load of one course each semester. The baseline stipend for these positions is $45,000 per year plus an allowance of $3,000 per year for research and professional travel expenses. Fellows will also be provided with full benefits including health and dental insurance. These positions are made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
