The International Relations Program (IRP) at the Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) of the International University of Japan (IUJ) offers Master’s and PhD degrees in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Political Science. The IRP currently seeks applications for a tenure-track position (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level) to begin September 2025 or later.
Prospective candidates are expected to:
The successful candidate will teach four eight-week courses in the Master’s program per academic year, distributed across the three terms (fall, winter, and spring), and eventually a PhD course in IPE. In addition, the candidate will supervise graduate research projects (master thesis or research reports), also serve on the PhD supervisory committee once eligible throughout an academic year. One overseas business trip per academic year may be required.
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in addition to the benefits for housing or commuting. IUJ provides on-campus housing options for faculty and their families.
Established in 1982, IUJ is a private graduate school in Minami Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. It is Japan’s first graduate school to offer its entire curriculum in English. Our student body is highly diverse, representing a wide range of nationalities as well as professional and academic backgrounds, with many students having served as public officials before joining our school.
