Tushinde Children’s Trust was founded in the UK in March 2010 and was registered as an NGO in Kenya in March 2011.Tushinde works with vulnerable families in the informal settlements of Mathare and Kiambiu with a main focus on providing them with access to education, health care and social support.

The Programs Assistant – supports the effective implementation of Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) activities in collaboration with partner daycares. Under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer, the role involves coordination, administration, monitoring, and capacity building to ensure high-quality early learning and care services for children in supported daycare centers. Working under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer, the Programs Assistant will contribute to planning, logistics, reporting, and communication efforts related to program execution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the day-to-day operations of daycare centers, ensuring alignment with ECDE and Tushinde Children’s Trust standard operating procedures.
• Assist in the design and facilitation of age-appropriate learning and play activities and the learning and play material development to promote the cognitive, socio-emotional, language and physical development of young children.
• Work directly with daycare staff to strengthen their capacity through on-site coaching, mentoring, and training sessions.
• Monitor child attendance, service delivery at the daycare centers to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
• Assess and keep the child development indicators records for child health, growth and development monitoring.
• Engage with parents and caregivers through sensitization and learning sessions on child development, positive parenting, and nutrition.
• Participate in field assessments, routine monitoring, and reporting of daycare activities and challenges.
• Promote child protection and safeguarding practices in all partnering daycare centers, ensuring children are in safe and inclusive environments.
• Liaising with partnering daycares to identify and address various concerns regarding the daycares.
• Coordinate the development and use of learning materials and the accountability of daycare resources and supplies.
• Support with the documentation, data collection and reporting for internal use, donor reports, and program learning.
• Provide administrative support so that various projects are completed on time and on budget.
• Support and advocate for children’s rights and help develop Tushinde Children’s programmes accordingly.
• Work alongside the Programmes Manager, Senior Programmes Officer and Programme Officer in charge of schools programme, daycare programme, Incoming Generating Activity programme and other programmes to ensure data collection is of high quality and accurate, reporting requirements are met and troubleshoot issues.
• Support budget preparation for events and activities under various donor budgets.
• Raise requisitions for program activities in line with the procurement policies
• Maintaining crucial project documents, filling them and ensuring that all documents are accurate.
• Participating in meetings regarding, For example Case Management and Child Protection.
• Comply with Tushinde Children's Trust financial procedure and maintain high standards of accountability in the expense of funds (due- time return of receipts etc.)

Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma / Degree in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).
• At least 2-5 years of experience working in ECDE or daycare settings, particularly in underserved or informal communities.
• Strong understanding of child development milestones, early stimulation and nurturing, and inclusive early learning.
• Previous experience with NGOs or community-based programs is an added advantage.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with caregivers and community members.
• Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
