Position description

St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, is seeking an Executive Director of the Center for Global Engagement (CGE). This position operates, administers, and runs the daily functions of the Center for Global Engagement while executing hands-on leadership, development, and assessment of the College's globalization activities. The Executive Director, who serves as the College's Senior International Officer (SIO), creates, writes, and implements strategic plans to build a vision for SNC's global programming and directly operates international programs and partnerships, support services for international students and scholars, the English as a second language institute and international student recruitment and admissions. The Director handles all related operations, policies, and budgets, generates revenue through global programming initiatives, recruits, trains, and coaches the CGE staff, and collaborates with faculty and staff to create, build, and execute on-campus and off-campus global programs.

Specific responsibilities:

Execute, coordinate, develop, and promote global education initiatives  

  • Manage and control the Center for Global Education budget

  • Oversee study abroad and Global Seminars operations

  • Develop, lead, and implement international recruiting and retention strategies

  • Manage the English language programs

  • Create, pilot, and scale new programs as they are developed

Create and execute an international student recruitment strategy 

  • Design, build, and implement an annual international recruitment plan to achieve enrollment goals

  • Recruit, engage, and enroll all international degree-seeking students through direct outreach

  • Identify, contact, and recruit ESL students through targeted initiatives

  • Travel to, present at, and represent the college at recruitment trips, including international recruitment fairs, high school visits, and on-campus events

  • Meet with, counsel, and guide prospective students and families through the enrollment process

  • Create, host, and deliver engagement through virtual platforms (webinars, online chat, video sessions)

  • Budget, spend, and track expenditures for international student recruitment activities

Process, evaluate, and manage international student admissions 

  • Review, analyze, and evaluate applications to determine eligibility and identify top candidates

  • Manage financial aid packages for international applicants

  • Collaborate and coordinate with enrollment management personnel to ensure data integrity

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain student demographic data

  • Prepare, compile, and deliver comprehensive reports on international recruiting initiatives

  • Conduct, assess, and implement ongoing evaluation of recruitment data and trends

Design, build, and run short-term, faculty-led programs 

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Center staff to execute program activities

  • Consult with, advise, and assist faculty members in designing effective programs

  • Create, conduct, and deliver pre-departure training sessions for faculty

  • Write, implement, and enforce relevant policies and procedures

  • Budget, spend, and track program finances while generating revenue through program pricing and enrollment

  • Assess, analyze, and improve program effectiveness through direct evaluation

  • Recruit, develop, and expand new revenue-generating programs to ensure growth and sustainability

Maintain, monitor, and ensure compliance and immigration records 

  • Ensure full compliance with SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) platform requirements and federal immigration regulations

  • Prepare, process, and distribute I-20 and DS-2019 forms for new international students and scholars

  • Counsel, advise, and guide students on immigration matters and status maintenance

  • Design, implement, and manage communication and reporting requirements for OPT students

  • Research, develop, and establish Curricular Practical Training (CPT) policies and procedures

  • Monitor, update, and maintain accurate records in SEVIS to ensure ongoing compliance with Department of Homeland Security requirements

 Hire, train, and develop staff 

  • Recruit, interview, and recommend/hire full-time staff and student workers

  • Train, coach, and mentor team members in their professional development

  • Evaluate, provide feedback, and guide team performance and career growth

Plan, execute, and respond to risk management for international travel 

  • Create, implement, and monitor risk mitigation strategies for all international programs

  • Write, maintain, and execute emergency response plans for international programs

  • Attend, participate, and contribute on CGE-related Committees

  • Respond to, handle, and resolve emergency situations as the primary emergency responder

Promote, Present, and Advocate for CGE programs

  • Engage, inform, and influence students, parents, faculty, staff, partners, and community members

  • Champion, promote, and market CGE's role and services college-wide

  • Represent, speak for, and advance the Center's mission and objectives

Supervision Exercised Over:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, international education, or a related field required.

  • 5 - 7 years’ experience with international education, international travel, working internationally, and grant writing, preferably in an academic environment.

  • Teaching experience is preferred.

  • Experience in risk management is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with budget management, including revenue-generating global programs.

  • Knowledge of international education trends at the state, national, and global levels

  • Utilize and communicate in world languages (preferred)

  • Navigate and manage higher education administration, particularly international education

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute logistics for academic and co-curricular activities abroad

  • Commit to and champion mission-driven work with dedication to Catholicism, Norbertine values, and liberal arts

  • Thrive and excel in fast-paced environments

  • Communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts professionally with coworkers and customers
