For our office in Brussels, we are looking for a European Parliament Relations Manager. Your main purpose consists of ensuring coordinated advocacy and engagement with members of the European Parliament and EP staff to positively shape political positions of the EP on political initiatives with significant business and/or reputational impact on Bayer. You will directly report to the Head Public Affairs EU and collaborate with many colleagues within the Public Affairs teams, PASS teams, EU institutions and with NGOs, relevant business associations, stakeholder organizations and think thanks.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate early detection of upcoming political issues in the European Parliament with impact on Bayer’s reputation and/or business;
- Analysis of potential business impact of relevant legislative and non-legislative proposals in close coordination with the business functions at corporate and divisional level;
- Further develop and maintain a network of key political stakeholders in the EP as well as other institutions where relevant to actively follow policy initiatives within the areas relevant for Bayer;
- Contribute to maintaining and strengthening Bayer's reputation as a trustworthy partner in the political dialogue with the EP and support all divisions in their outreach to the EP;
- Independently develop and coordinate implementation of lobbying strategies and activities towards the EP and other EU institutions in policy fields such as healthcare, agriculture & bio sciences;
- Increase external awareness and visibility of Bayer - “presence” and “relevance” - with a focus on the EP;
- Develop political positions and briefing materials jointly with the relevant business units and PASS function for the external outreach;
- Ensure effective and well coordinated collaboration with key Bayer internal stakeholder groups at corporate and divisional level regarding EP advocacy;
- Support the positioning of Bayer Senior Managements with senior representatives of the EP.

Qualifications
- University degree notably in political science, law, natural sciences, economics or related subjects;
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in a public and/or governmental affairs environment preferably the European Parliament;
- Good understanding of EU institutional and procedural set-up;
- Existing political stakeholder network in the European Parliament;
- Strong conceptual and analytical thinker;
- Proven competency in shaping and implementing effective advocacy strategies;
- Excellent negotiation and presentation capabilities paired with strong interpersonal skills in networking and communication;
- Team-oriented worker;
- Excellent command of the English language, additional European languages in particular German and French are an asset.
