Position description
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Public Affairs and Communications Intern to join its Brussels-based team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of EU policy, industry advocacy, and strategic communications in a highly dynamic environment.
Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will support the Public Affairs and Communications functions of the Association and will be expected to:
- Monitor and analyse relevant EU legislative and policy developments, particularly in the areas of transport, environment, energy, climate, circular economy, and sustainability;
- Track and summarise media coverage and political developments relevant to the industry;
- Assist in drafting briefing notes, policy updates, speeches, and position papers;
- Contribute to internal and external communications outputs, including social media copy;
- Help manage and maintain mailing lists and stakeholder databases;
- Support the organisation and preparation of meetings with Members of the European Parliament, working groups, and events;
- Attend and report on relevant EU institutional meetings, stakeholder events, and public hearings;
- Provide day-to-day support to the Public Affairs and Communications team.
Profile & Requirements
- Background in EU affairs, political science, communications, international relations, or a related field;
- Demonstrated interest in EU policymaking;
- Strong writing and research skills in English (native or near-native level);
- Good understanding of EU institutions and legislative processes;
- Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and a proactive attitude;
- German language skills are an asset and preference will be given to German-speaking candidates.
