We are best known for our excellent and accessible Model UN programs which engage students in grades 5-12 through year-round programs, including interscholastic conferences, summer Institute, and our in-class units of study. 

Additionally, we provide skill-based volunteer opportunities and internships to over 100 university students in the greater Boston area! Duties

Senior Manager, Development Operations & Services

Position reports to the Executive Director Department: Development 

Position Status: Full-time, exempt, year-round 

Description

UNAGB seeks a detail-oriented and motivated emerging leader to work closely with the Executive Director, Program Staff, and Board to help plan and execute effective fundraising, marketing, and recruitment strategies and to deliver best-in-class donor & client stewardship. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to learn and grow as a development professional within a dynamic small-but-mighty nonprofit. 

The Senior Manager, Development Operations & Services should pride themselves on their ability to curate the highest quality of donor and client experience. A range of roles can serve as a prerequisite: fundraising experience, client services, hospitality, political campaigns, marketing, sales, retail or restaurant customer service (or other!) are all relevant to core job functions. 

Additionally, the Senior Manager should bring experience as an adept team player, as they will need to frequently collaborate across organizational functions, including Programs, Finance/Administration, and Governance/Board support. Comfort with data and reporting—or a willingness to learn—is essential in this role, as you’ll be responsible for supporting team analysis, collaboration, and answering questions with data-driven insights. 

The Senior Manager of Development Operations & Services must demonstrate high attention to detail through efficient database management, curated dashboard creation, and exceptional event management. 

This position will be most rewarding for someone who can be both self-directed and collaborative, systems thinking and flexible, with a strong awareness of their own working style and that of others. An internal passion for UNAGB’s mission and work is required.

Responsibilities

DONOR CULTIVATION AND STEWARDSHIP (INCLUDES SIGNIFICANT EVENT MANAGEMENT) (50%) 

Drive donor engagement and fundraising success through, but not limited to, the following responsibilities: 

  • Steward existing relationships with individual funders: corporations, community and family foundations, and individuals 
  • Own event-planning execution for development events throughout the year, including UNAGB’s Charter Circle events, UN Day Luncheon, International Women’s Day Celebration, and others 
  • Facilitate and provide key administrative support to various fundraising committees, including (but not limited to) the International Women’s Day Committee and the Board Development Committee Develop and execute a corporate contributions campaign/sponsorship effort, including the creation and management of sponsor recognition 
  • Attend community events and build positive relationships with key partners in the community, including peer organizations and key vendors 
  • Lead and execute special projects as needed 

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS (30%)

  • Oversee and execute comprehensive brand, communications, and marketing strategies across digital and in-person platforms to support organizational visibility, engagement, and recruitment efforts. 
  • Lead and execute an organization-wide brand and communications strategy 
  • Develop compelling marketing materials for a variety of audiences (digital newsletters, social media posts, brochures, one-pagers, event invitations, etc.) 
  • Manage and execute social media strategy across all channels 
  • Maintain and update organizational websites related to UNAGB programs, ensuring timely and accurate content 
  • Manage inbound communications (e.g. (calls to the office, emails to the info account) for the organization 
  • Represent the organization at in-person networking and community events (e.g. camp fairs, tabling events, other) 
  • Lead and execute special projects as needed 

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS (20%)

Oversee and optimize all aspects of donor data management, financial reconciliation, and development operations to ensure accurate reporting and seamless support for development campaigns and organizational goals; specifically 

  • Maintain and optimize the CRM donor database (NeonOne) through current best practices to ensure quality records for up-to-date and effective donor interactions 
  • Track campaign-related solicitations, confirmed pledge and gift intentions 
  • Conduct regular list maintenance and data hygiene tasks to support effective donor communication, ensure accuracy in outreach, and uphold database integrity 
  • Support the development and reporting on of grant applications 
  • Reconcile development records with the finance team and record updates or data corrections as necessary 
  • Deliver essential records for external use including timely and accurate gift and acknowledgement letters, event invitations, appeals and more 
  • Provide bespoke dashboard reports, and other presentations as needed, for meetings with donors, the Executive Director, the Development Committee, board, and in support of the audit 
  • Manage Development invoices and expenses for designated events and other office operations 
  • Lead and execute special projects as needed in a dynamic organization like UNAGB, roles and responsibilities are ever evolving in response to the changing needs of our community. 

Other responsibilities may arise based on organizational need.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, and 1-5+ years of experience in a development, sales, marketing or role(s) with significant event planning and data management and that require high attention to detail and exceptional client/donor support 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 
  • Top tier customer service with the ability to interact with a diverse constituency Strong operations mindset, organizational abilities, systems thinking, and attention to detail 
  • Exceptional ability to work in a collaborative, team dynamic with other staff, volunteers, and interns 
  • Skill and fluency in database management, data analysis, and/or willingness to learn 
  • Comfort with Google Suite and related programs 
  • Experience in direct and electronic mail services, such as PaperlessPost and Constant Contact, or Mailchimp is helpful  
  • Eye for detail and design required. 
  • Ability to create simple graphics and briefings using Canva preferred 
  • Experience managing, generating, and publishing on major social media platforms 
  • Skill in photography, video and/or professional graphic design preferred A strong commitment to the United Nations Association of Greater Boston’s mission, values, and work 

Logistics

Organizational work hours for staff are typically Monday through Friday (9am-5pm), with the current option of a hybrid schedule of at least 3 days in the office each week The office is located at 200 Portland Street, Boston (near North Station, TD Garden) but work locations range throughout Greater Boston.

A flexible schedule and the availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends for planned events is required. 

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Ability to work in the US (no visa support required)

A valid driver's license and comfort driving (car not required)
