Position description

Transparentem is a U.S.-based nonprofit that advances the well-being of workers and communities by exposing hard truths to those with the power to transform industries, primarily companies sourcing products from global supply chains. Our goal is to eradicate environmental and human rights abuses in global supply chains. We are currently focused on applying our expertise in the apparel and footwear sectors to new industries and building our environmental portfolio.

We are seeking a Partnerships and Operations Associate to join our Partnerships, Communications, and Operations teams. Together, these teams are responsible for all non-programmatic elements at Transparentem, including partnerships, media relations, digital communications, HR, core administrative and operational functions, and monitoring and evaluation. The Partnerships and Operations Associate will work closely across these portfolios and the organization, including with the Executive Director, to execute a variety of support work and advance the efficiency, capacity, and influence of Transparentem.

This role reports to the Director of Partnerships and Communications. Training and professional development opportunities in each functional area of the position will be provided, as well as opportunities to build knowledge related to Transparentem’s programmatic work.

Responsibilities

Partner engagement and business development (40%)

  • Assist in creating compelling external-facing collateral and copy for donor audiences (e.g., two-pagers, concept notes) and material for partner meetings and larger external convenings (e.g., talking points, slide decks, event collateral).
  • Work closely with the Director of Partnerships & Communications on the planning, production, and execution of donor events and engagement.
  • Source and analyze prospects across all areas of private philanthropy.
  • As needed, support drafting and review of proposals and funder reports. Draft donor acknowledgments.
  • Contribute to accurate documentation and maintenance of development activity in CRM systems andother partnerships-related internal processes.

Operations and organizational management (30%)

  • Support the day-to-day administration of organizational operations, working with the Associate Director of Operations to manage internal communications systems and maintain IT, HR, and other operational software, databases, and processes.
  • Support and/or manage as appropriate, projects related to organizational development (e.g., new workflow-related tools, risk mitigation, employee retention, recruitment) and conduct research to support the planning and execution of such projects.
  • Support the Operations team in board relations, including board-related scheduling and preparation for quarterly board meetings.
  • Support the Operations and Senior Management teams in preparing and facilitating training, learning, and development across the organization, as well as regular team-wide calls and organizational retreats.

Communications (30%)

  • Lead social media engagement and manage Transparentem’s website, including developing and maintaining content. Draft communications, such as social media posts, blogs, event collateral, and the Annual Report.
  • Support the Director of Partnerships and Communications and Programs colleagues to execute media plans for milestone moments, such as report publications; support review processes for Transparentem reports as needed, including formatting and copyediting.
  • Manage logistics for high-profile events and convenings, working closely with leadership to develop content and create collateral.
  • Maintain and update branding materials to ensure consistency and relevance.
  • Liaise with graphic designers to develop publications and visual collateral.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate is passionate about ending labor and environmental abuses in global supply chains and looking to build their business development, nonprofit management, and/or communications skills as they move through the early-mid stages of their career. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment with a diverse range of responsibilities. They will apply exceptional analytical skills, communication, and attention to detail to execute projects against competing timelines, orchestrating various moving parts to help the team meet our goals.

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience; experience in nonprofit operations, development, or communications, including experience engaging with external stakeholders and creating collateral for internal and external engagement.
  • Excellent verbaland written communication skills with experience writing for a variety of audiences; strong proofreading and copy-editing skills.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills,with superb attention to detail.
  • Experience buildingrelationships with externalpartners. Multi-cultural competency and experience working with people from diverse geographic and cultural backgrounds across time zones.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRM software, Canva, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat, with a demonstrated ability to pick up new technology quickly.
  • ​​BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • Passion for Transparentem’s mission and a commitment to combating forcedlabor and environmental abuse in global supply chains.

Other requirements:

  • Fluency in English.
  • US work authorization (we are unable to sponsor H1-B visas).

Work arrangement: Primarily remote, with requirements to plan and facilitate in-person activities up to four times per year.
