The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive International Trade Manager to join its ambitious team in Brussels.

Job description

ACEA is seeking an International Trade Manager to support the industrial policy & international trade team. The candidate will be working with the International Trade and Customs Director on trade policy topics relevant to the automobile industry. The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:

  • Monitoring policy and regulatory developments impacting on the automobile industry in the areas of international trade and customs, and communicating these to members;
  • Representing ACEA members in meetings with EU stakeholders, including the European Commission, European Parliament and member states;
  • Areas of core interest will include the EU’s industrial and trading relationships with critical partners like the United States, China, and the UK, and addressing market access barriers to automobile trade across the world;
  • Day to day tasks will include representing ACEA in external events, preparing briefings and hosting meetings for members;
  • Participating in and contributing to other activities as may be assigned by the International Trade Director, notably by responding to ad hoc requests for information from both within and outside ACEA.

Profile

  • A university degree (master’s preferred) in economics, law or political science. Specific studies on trade economics/trade law are an advantage;
  • Two to three years of previous working experience, ideally in EU trade or customs policy and/or the automotive sector;
  • Good knowledge of the EU institutions and EU decision-making processes;
  • Excellent presentation, writing and editing skills in English is required; good knowledge of other languages are an advantage;
  • Policy communication mindset and strong political acumen: ability to translate complex issues into clear, accessible content framed within a broader context;
  • Proficiency in AI advocacy tools is an advantage;
  • Fast and willing learner, quick thinker, and confident. A positive and collegial presence in an office environment is a must.
