Position Summary
As Manager EU Government Relations, you will support the Senior Director EU Government Relations to develop and manage Bentley’s relationships with policymakers at EU and national level. Your mission will be to ensure that EU public policy supports our sustainable growth in Europe, and that we remain a trusted partner to policymakers. You feel at home at the intersection of law, politics, and business, and will elevate Bentley’s participation in debates around digitalization of infrastructure – with a primary focus on EU policies relevant to transportation, e.g. rail and road, ports and airports, military mobility.
This is a remote role based in Brussels.
Responsibilities

Focus on transport infrastructure, though role will also involve other topics (e.g. climate resilience, smart cities, the next Multiannual Financial Framework as it relates to investments in infrastructure).
- Lead Bentley’s Government Relations advocacy in one key national market at EU level (ideally France, but flexible depending on profile of successful candidate).
- With guidance from the Senior Director EU Government Relations, manage and execute public policy-related projects and support Bentley’s advocacy toward policymakers. Enable and coordinate meetings with key stakeholders (external and internal) to reach advocacy goals.
- Represent Bentley in relevant trade/industry associations and events, and help drive Bentley’s objectives in these fora.
- Produce and manage government relations content and collateral for outward-facing meetings. Content shall include presentations, one-pagers, and deeper substantive papers on how Bentley’s technology is improving quality of life and making infrastructure more sustainable and resilient.
- Brief, prep. collaborate with and advise Bentley colleagues on EU policy matters as needed (e.g. Sales, Legal, Communications).
Qualifications
- Four to eight years of government relations work in Brussels, in-house or for a relevant public institution, industry group, or consultancy.
- Experience leading engagements with EU policymakers and executing public policy-related projects. Self-starter with the ability to understand business needs, think strategically and develop creative and constructive policy proposals.
- Excellent knowledge of the EU political and legislative process and an existing network of key stakeholders in Brussels and/or at national level.
- Excellent command of relevant transport-related EU policy discussions (e.g. TEN-T Regulation, High-Speed Rail Plan, Military Mobility Action Plan, EU Ports Strategy) is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
- Good understanding of digital policy, in particular issues related to AI and data.
- The ability to effectively communicate – and advocate – for Bentley’s policy positions. Strong writing and analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of EU infrastructure funding programs such as the Connecting Europe Facility, and willingness to deepen this knowledge.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with a high degree of self-awareness, integrity, and accountability.
- Master’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or similar.
- Excellent command of English and at least one other EU language. Excellent command of French is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
- Some travel required (10-15%).
