Position description
The adjunct faculty will deliver high-quality instruction to undergraduate students, emphasizing practical and theoretical aspects through innovative course design and delivery.
The adjunct faculty will function as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs responsible for teaching, offering office hours, completing associated administrative tasks and communicating as appropriate with the Chair and staff on matters related to UNH policy or course management.
The adjunct faculty will be responsible for teaching POLT 508 Supreme Court and the Constitution for the Spring 2026 semester to approximately 30 undergraduate students.
Duties/Responsibilities
Teaching (70%)
- Delivering in-class instruction Mondays and Wednesdays 3:40-5:00 for the duration of the spring semester. Includes giving the final exam during finals week, date and time TBD.
Office Hours (20%)
- Offering 1-2 hours per week of office hours for students to meet outside of class time.
Misc administrative (10%)
- Handling the administrative work associated with the course, including: Syllabus preparation, coordinating books/reading materials with the bookstore, maintaining Canvas, grading, responding to email queries from students, Department faculty and staff.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
- Master's degree and 2 years of professional experience. ABD or PhD in a relevant discipline.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Relevant academic and/or professional experience related to the course being taught.
- Candidate must be comfortable interacting with students of varying backgrounds and abilities, and able to provide appropriate guidance and support regarding coursework.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ABD or PhD in discipline relevant to the course.
- Teaching certification and/or experience, particularly advanced high schoolers or college students.
