Position description
We are seeking a highly motivated EU Policy Officer to join our team on a full-time fixed-term contract (6 months) to cover a maternity leave, starting 2 January 2026. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of EU policymaking and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and international environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitoring EU legislative and regulatory developments in taxation and related professional matters and inform ETAF members;
- Providing support to ETAF members, responding to requests and facilitating information exchange;
- Drafting high-quality policy material, including position papers, European Commission’s public consultation responses, briefings, presentations, press releases and speeches;
- Supporting the work of ETAF representatives in the Commission’s expert groups (Platform for Tax Good Governance, VAT expert group, eInvoicing Technical Advisory Group);
- Drafting, designing and coordinating ETAF publications, including the Weekly Tax News, Quarterly Newsletters and Annual Report;
- Supporting ETAF advocacy efforts by attending with ETAF Head of Office meetings with EU policymakers and Brussels stakeholders;
- Attending EU policy events in Brussels (e.g. parliamentary committees and hearings, workshops, conferences) and draft reports for internal use;
- Organising Board meetings and General Assembly, including preparation of agendas, minutes and documentation for the members;
- Organising high-level policy conferences in Brussels (e.g. room booking, relation with service providers, building of a programme, contact with the speakers and moderators, registration system);
- Managing press relations, respond to media inquiries and ensure ETAF positions are communicated effectively;
- Contributing to ETAF communications strategy by regularly updating the website and managing social media channels;
- Carrying out administrative and financial tasks, including invoice management and preparation of financial statements liaising with the external accountant.
Qualifications
- University degree in European Affairs, EU Law, Political Science or a related field;
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in EU affairs, ideally within a membership-based organisation in Brussels or an EU institution;
- Excellent command of English (oral and written). Knowledge of French or German is an asset;
- Solid understanding of EU institutions, decision-making processes and international taxation;
- Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills with attention to detail;
- Proactive, flexible and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a small and international team;
- Familiarity with WordPress, MailChimp and Canva is an advantage;
- Eligible to work in the European Union and based in or willing to relocate to Belgium.
