Position Summary
The Business Development & Capital Partnerships Manager is responsible for supporting both the origination of capital partnerships and operationalising the business development function within ForAfrika Social Enterprise (FASE).
The role combines hands-on capital raising and proposal development with operational management of business development systems, pipeline tracking, and reporting. The position ensures that funding opportunities move efficiently from identification through to proposal submission and funding closure, while maintaining strong operational discipline and visibility across the capital pipeline. The role contributes directly to mobilising capital for social enterprise initiatives and strengthening the systems required to sustain a scalable funding pipeline.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
1.Capital Origination & Partnership Development
-Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with funders, investors, and capital partners.
- Build and maintain a diversified pipeline across debt, equity, grants, and concessionary capital.
-Drive engagements from initial contact through proposal development, negotiation, and close.
-Support opportunities emerging from Group Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, and the FASE GM.
-Represent FASE in engagements with investors, development finance institutions, and funding partners.
-Contribute directly to achieving defined capital mobilisation targets.

2. Proposal Development & Investment Packaging
-Lead proposal development and convert programmes into fundable investment opportunities.
-Translate social enterprise initiatives into clear financial and impact propositions for investors.
-Prepare concept notes, investment summaries, and proposal documents for potential funders.
-Work closely with programme, finance, and leadership teams to structure funding proposals.
-Support preparation of presentations, investment briefs, and marketing materials.

3. Business Development Operations & Pipeline Management
-Establish and maintain business development systems, including CRM and pipeline tracking tools.
-Track funding opportunities from identification to submission and funding closure.
-Maintain accurate records of engagements, proposals, and funding status.
-Produce pipeline reports and funding updates for leadership.
-Ensure compliance with organisational governance, documentation standards, and reporting requirements.

4. Innovation & Market Intelligence
-Monitor trends in impact investing, development finance, and social enterprise funding.
- Identify new investor segments and emerging capital opportunities.
-Support the development of innovative funding approaches that strengthen the FASE capital base.
-Contribute to strategic thinking on sustainable capital mobilisation for social enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications

•5+ years in business development, corporate finance, investment, or capital raising.
•Proven exposure to debt, equity, grant, and/or concessionary capital structures.
•Experience in emerging markets and/or social enterprise preferred.
•Strong proposal writing and deal advancement track record.
•Established networks and experience operating in Africa advantageous.
•Commercially minded, but purpose driven.
•Confident relationship builder, skilled engaging senior stakeholders.
•Proactive originator of opportunities.
•Structured thinker with strong financial literacy.
•Excellent written communication and high ownership mindset.
•Able to operate strategically and tactically.
