Position description
Gret, on behalf of the Water Coalition, is seeking an Advocacy Intern for a period of 6 months, starting in September 2026.
The Water Coalition is a network of French NGOs committed to the human rights to water and sanitation, and to recognising water as a common good. It serves as a collective platform for advocacy, analysis, and proposal development. The Water Coalition aims to:
- Influence decision-makers to secure ambitious and enforceable commitments
- Bring together and represent French NGOs in the sector and amplify their voices
- Develop joint advocacy initiatives in France and internationally to strengthen mobilisation
- Produce expertise and promote solutions to act as a proactive force
- Strengthen knowledge sharing and collective learning to enhance impact
- Mobilise media and public opinion to amplify key messages

Mission Description
Under the responsibility of the Water Coalition Coordinator, and in collaboration with the Project Manager and member NGOs of the collective, the intern will support work related to three advocacy areas:
- Water resource management
- Development policy and French funding for water and sanitation
- International water governance processes
The role will also contribute to communication activities and support the coordination and dynamics of the collective.
Main responsibilities:
- Conduct monitoring, research, and analysis to support advocacy work
- Contribute to the development of advocacy strategies and drafting of key messages and policy documents
- Support the implementation of institutional advocacy and campaign activities
- Assist with communication tasks, including social media management, website updates, newsletters, press releases, and opinion pieces
- Participate in Water Coalition meetings, assemblies, and working groups
- Support donor reporting and technical reporting activities
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in political science, law, international relations, or a related field
- Strong interest in research, analysis, and advocacy
- Interest in communication tools and digital engagement
- Knowledge of international cooperation, development aid actors, and frameworks
- Understanding of human rights issues
- Familiarity with the non-profit and solidarity sector
- Interest in water and sanitation issues
- Fluent English

Terms
- Contracted internship based in Nogent-sur-Marne (94), France
- Duration: 6 months (from September 2026, flexible depending on availability)
- Internship allowance: €693/month
- Meal vouchers (€5.70/day)
- Public transport coverage (60% of monthly pass in the Paris region)
- Leave entitlement: 2 days per month
